Sudoku for Beginners: How to Improve Your Problem-Solving Skills
Are you a beginner when it comes to solving Sudoku puzzles? Do you find yourself frustrated and unsure of where to start? Fear not, as we have compiled a comprehensive guide on how to improve your problem-solving skills through Sudoku.
Understanding the Basics of Sudoku
Before we dive into the strategies and techniques, let’s first understand the basics of Sudoku. A Sudoku puzzle is a 9×9 grid that is divided into nine smaller 3×3 grids. The objective is to fill in each row, column, and smaller grid with numbers 1-9 without repeating any numbers.
Starting Strategies for Beginners
As a beginner, it can be overwhelming to look at an empty Sudoku grid. But don’t worry. There are simple starting strategies that can help you get started. First, look for any rows or columns that only have one missing number. Fill in that number and move on to the next row or column with only one missing number. Another strategy is looking for any smaller grids with only one missing number and filling in that number.
Advanced Strategies for Beginner/Intermediate Level
Once you’ve mastered the starting strategies, it’s time to move on to more advanced techniques. One technique is called “pencil marking.” This involves writing down all possible numbers in each empty square before making any moves. Then use logic and elimination techniques to cross off impossible numbers until you are left with the correct answer.
Another advanced technique is “hidden pairs.” Look for two squares within a row or column that only have two possible numbers left. If those two possible numbers exist in both squares, then those two squares must contain those specific numbers.
Benefits of Solving Sudoku Puzzles
Not only is solving Sudoku puzzles fun and challenging, but it also has many benefits for your brain health. It helps improve your problem-solving skills, enhances memory and concentration, and reduces the risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease.
In conclusion, Sudoku is a great way to improve your problem-solving skills while also providing entertainment. With these starting and advanced strategies, you’ll be able to solve even the toughest Sudoku puzzles. So grab a pencil and paper and start sharpening those brain muscles.

Carlcare Reservation Service
CHECK THE VOLUME BUTTON
Firstly, you need to look at your volume button critically to identify if there's any dent on it which makes it to be pressed in or stuck instead of the normal way it should be. If there are dents on it, probably caused by a fall or scratch, which has damaged the key, then this may be the cause of it not working.
REBOOT YOUR PHONE.
Try rebooting your phone by long pressing your power button for about thirty seconds till a menu comes, then click on restart or switch your phone off and on again. Rebooting your phone helps restart all background services and the software of your phone. This would help in the case if there was a software crash. After restarting, check if the volume button works.
USE SOFT KEYS.
After trying the above methods to fix the volume button and if it still doesn't work, then it is more likely a hardware issue. Perhaps the volume button is broken and needs to be changed. You can seek a virtual replacement by using soft keys to increase and decrease the volume. This can be used for now before seeking professional help. You can do this through different ways, I'll be mentioning three methods.
- Use of Sound Widget.
You can create a sound Widget on your home screen that would enable you to adjust the volume. To do this go to widget >> settings >> sound
- Android Accessibility Menu
Android accessibility menu also provides soft keys options for your volume button. The accessibility suite is a panel which has a range of shortcuts such as Google assistant, volume, brightness, screenshot among other options. Go to Settings >> Accessibility >> Accessibility menu.
- Download Virtual Volume Button App
There are some apps that have been created to virtually replace your volume button. You can download a virtual volume button application from Play store. Just go to Play store and search for volume button, download and install an app that meets your needs.
CHECK THE VOLUME BUTTON FOR ANY FOREIGN PARTICLE
Check if your volume button has any foreign particle on it. If there are foreign particles, you can remove it with the aid of tissue paper. Beware of poking sharp objects such as toothpick, office clips, needles or broom as this could damage the volume key.
FACTORY RESET YOUR PHONE
You may need to factory reset your phone if the problem still persists. Ensure you back up your data before doing this as a factory reset would wipe off all the data from your phone. Go to settings, click on system and select factory reset. Check if the volume button works after factory resetting the phone.
VISIT A SERVICE CENTER
After trying the above methods, your last resort should be to seek professional help to repair the volume buttons by visiting a service center. In today’s tech-driven era, where music and videos are an integral part of our daily routines, it can be incredibly frustrating when you’re eager to listen to your favorite tunes only to find that your volume buttons are not working and stop working suddenly.
But fear not! This comprehensive guide will walk you through the steps to fix your volume buttons and get you back to enjoying your favorite songs and videos easily. Whether you’re an Android or iPhone user, we’ve got you covered!
In this article, I will show you how to fix the volume button if it is not working. All of you will know why the volume button is not working.
To Fix Volume Button – Make them Working Again!
However, this issue is caused by software errors and sometimes hardware failures. It could be easily cured if it is created because of software errors or bugs.
1. Tilt And Check the Volume Buttons
When you press the volume button, but it doesn’t work, one thing that you do is press that button again and again. I’m afraid that’s not right.
First, you must see these volume buttons if something unusual happens; something like the button could be stuck into the cell phone’s body. And to check whether it is stuck, you can tilt your cell phone and check whether it is bumped.
- Gently tilt your phone to observe the volume buttons.
- Check if the buttons are obstructed or pressed into the smartphone’s body.
- Ensure that your phone is powered off to avoid accidental actions.
- Use your fingertips to apply a slight upward pressure around the volume buttons.
- Be cautious not to exert too much force or use sharp objects that could damage your device.
- Try pressing the volume buttons again to see if they respond.
- If the buttons are still unresponsive, proceed to other troubleshooting steps.
Your volume button is not working because the phone may drop on the volume button so that the volume buttons are thoroughly pressed into the smartphone’s body so that you can’t press them.
2. Restart Your Smartphone
Sometimes some technical or software errors might lead to volume buttons not working. And to cure this problem, you need to restart your smartphone at least twice when they are not working.
- Power off your phone completely.
- Wait for a few seconds, and then power it back on.
- Test the volume buttons again to see if they are working.
To make it advanced, you can either go for a safe boot, also known as a safe mode, in which all the apps are disabled for that particular model. And sometimes, volume buttons start working when people move their smartphones from safe to normal mode.
3. Check and Remove If there are any Unknown Particles
Sometimes, when you press the volume button, some foreign particles enter it and make it stop working, which is why the volume buttons are not working.
- Power off your phone to prevent any accidental actions.
- Use a soft cloth or microfiber cloth to clean the volume buttons gently.
- If the debris is stubborn, lightly moisten the cloth with rubbing alcohol and clean the buttons.
- Ensure that the buttons are completely dry before testing them again.
So, first of all, you need to check if any foreign particles are entering the volume keys. You can use tissue paper to remove it and be aware that you don’t poke a toothpick, broom, paintbrush, needle, etc. This might lead you to a permanent loss of volume buttons.
4. Third-party Makes fix volume Button
Suppose you are in a situation where you have to use your volume, but in any case, you don’t have much time to follow all the tutorials; then you should try this.
You can use any volume buttons app available on the Google Play Store and simultaneously on Apple’s App Store. You can install them and use them as the virtual volume keys that could help you to scale the volume up and simultaneously volume down.
Third-party apps can serve as temporary solutions if you’re in a pinch and need to control the volume quickly.
- Explore volume control apps available on your app store.
- Install and use these apps as virtual volume keys to adjust the sound.
- Alternatively, utilize built-in Android assistants to control volume when physical buttons are not working.
If you don’t want to install any app, you can go with the Android assistant, which would help you to volume up and down when your volume keys are not working.
Additional App Info
5. resetting the system settings.
You could try resetting your system settings if there is any software bug. I know it is not worth it, but you could try it if you don’t want to visit any repair center and want to repair it yourself. Moreover, the steps to reset system settings and network settings are similar.
Resetting your system settings can help resolve software-related issues affecting the volume buttons.
- Access the settings menu on your smartphone.
- Look for the option to reset system settings.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to reset the settings.
- Test the volume buttons afterward to see if they respond.
6. Update Your Smartphone
There is a perfect thing that is happening nowadays, which is that smartphones are getting updates almost every two months. This is curing most smartphone problems, whether the Android charging slowly on your smartphone is working too slowly.
Regularly updating your smartphone’s software can provide bug fixes and improvements, potentially resolving volume button issues.
- Check for software updates in your device settings.
- Download and install any available updates.
- Restart your phone and test the volume buttons.
Many people don’t install the system update, but that is necessary. It is like the trend we all follow, so update it.
7. Take Your Phone to the Repair Center
If you tried all the above steps, that is the ultimate thing you could do. You could go to a repair center nearby. They would love to help you with that scenario because we are not professional enough to open up your smartphone and professionally fix volume buttons.
Why is my volume button not working on Smartphones?
- Check for physical damage or obstructions.
- Restart your device.
- Clean around the volume buttons.
- Boot your device into safe mode.
- Update your device’s software.
- Reset your system settings.
- Seek professional repair or contact the manufacturer if your device is under warranty.
These are general troubleshooting steps and may not work for all devices. If you still have trouble after trying these steps, please get in touch with your device manufacturer for further assistance.

6 Best Ways to Fix Volume Buttons Not Working on Android
Volume rockers are an essential aspect of all smartphones. Whether you want to vary volume levels when watching a video or you just want to mute the ringer on your phone, the volume buttons are the simplest way to achieve it. Given the utility, it would be a disaster if volume buttons are not working on your Android phone or on your iPhone .
While it could be a hardware defect leading to the problem, there’s also a chance that your phone’s software is malfunctioning. If it’s the former, you’ll have to pay a visit to the service center. If it’s the latter though, here are some ways to fix the volume up and down buttons not working on your Android device.
1. Remove a Case if You’re Using One
Oftentimes, the buttons on your phone may not work properly if you’re using a thick or rugged case. This may lead you to believe that the volume buttons are not working on your phone.
The simplest way to address this issue is to remove the case you’re using and then try using the volume buttons. If it works fine, it’s time to get a new case for your phone.
2. Clean the Volume Rockers
If the case isn’t causing a problem, it could be some dust or debris accumulated in and around the volume rockers on your device. Take off any case you’re using and clean the volume buttons using a soft microfiber cloth.
You can also use some rubbing alcohol if the dust isn’t coming off easily. Once the debris is off, try and see if the volume-up button is still not working or if the issue is fixed. Then, see if the volume-down button is still not working. If it is, congrats! You’ve solved the issue. If not, continue to the subsequent methods.
3. Change the Volume Rocker Action via Settings
Maybe you’re trying to change the media volume but your volume rockers are mapped to change the ringer volume. This would make you think that the volume buttons are not working on your phone. So, the best thing to do is to go to the Settings app and remap the volume buttons. Here’s how it’s done.
Step 1: Open the Settings app on your phone. Navigate to the ‘Sounds and vibration’ section.
Step 2: Select the Volume tab.
Step 3: Enable or disable the ‘Use Volume keys for media’ toggle depending on your preference.
4. Turn Off Do Not Disturb
Do Not Disturb silences your phone’s ringer volume. So, if you’ve enabled DND, the volume buttons may not do anything. That may lead you to believe that the volume rockers are not working on your phone.
The solution? Disable Do Not Disturb. Here’s how to do it.
Step 1: Open the Settings app on your phone. Navigate to the Notifications section.
Step 2: Select ‘Do not disturb’.
Step 3: Disable the toggle next to ‘Do not disturb’.
Try using the volume keys now to see if it makes a difference.
5. Disable TalkBack
TalkBack is an app for visually impaired people. The Google Talkback app comes pre-installed on Android devices. The app gives spoken feedback to users about the content and actions on the smartphone. It basically helps visually impaired people interact with their devices.
However, this app is sometimes responsible for breaking the volume button. To fix this, you need to turn off the feature. Here’s how to do it.
Step 1: Open the Settings app on your phone. Navigate to the Accessibility tab by scrolling to the bottom.
Step 2: Select TalkBack.
Step 3: Turn off the toggle next to TalkBack right at the top. You might have to double-tap on the toggle to turn it off since TalkBack relies on multiple taps to make a selection.
Once you’ve disabled TalkBack, try using the volume keys to see if they work as intended.
6. Update Your Phone to the Latest Software Version
If there is an underlying problem in the software of your phone leading to the volume buttons sensor failing, the best way to fix it would be via a software update. Here’s how to check for updates on your Android phone and install an update if it’s available.
Step 1: Open the Settings app. Scroll down and tap on Software update.
If you don’t find the option on your device, head over to System > System Update.
Step 2: Tap on ‘Download and Install’.
Your phone will now check for updates. If there’s an update available, install it on your phone.
The volume buttons should be back to life if the issue was with the software.
FAQs for Volume Buttons Not Working on Android
If your headphones have a volume slider, you can surely use them to control the volume levels on your phone if the volume buttons stop working.
OnePlus phones have an alert slider to mute the phone. If it’s set to the mute position, you won’t be able to vary the ringer volume using the volume buttons. This may make you believe that your volume rockers aren’t working.
Most phones nowadays have a screenshot toggle in the quick settings menu or have gestures to capture the screen. You can look for a specific guide to help you take screenshots based on your phone’s model.
Vary Volume Levels With Ease
Volume buttons make the entire processing or varying the volume so much more convenient. If the volume buttons are not working on your Android device even after following all the steps, you’ll have to vary the volume manually each time by going into the Settings app. Alternatively, we suggest taking your phone to an authorized service center to get it checked for any hardware defects.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 8
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 is a mid-range smartphone by Xiaomi released October 2019. It has a 6.3" IPS LCD display, a 48 MP main camera, a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, a 4000 mAh battery, and runs on a Snapdragon 665.

My phone thinks the down volume button is pressed
I own a xiaomi red mi note 8.
I was listening to music normal and it started lowering the volume by itself. I tried to get the volume higher a few times (pressing the up volume button or using the screen) but it kept going all the way down.
So i turned it off and cleaned it a little bit just in case something was bothering the button from the outside, or if the system was stuck. Then when I opened it and it still thought that the down button was pressed so it sent me to fast boot. Somehow I managed to boot it properly and now it seems to be okay, but i think it will happen again.
Is it a hardware or a software error? if there’s nothing I can do about it I might need to buy a new one.
Is this a good question?
This is what's happening to my phone now. It's Redmi note 7 btw. :/
I start to think that I need to switch to another brand. Xiaomi sucks :’(

For people who has this issue and hitting table doesn't work, i found an app named 'buttons remapper & combinatin' by 'Irishin'. You should download it, then give permission and then click + button in app, choose the button with the problem for me it is 'volume +', choose 'do nothing' for the action and enable 'block system action'. From now on my volume up button is not sensing anything. For increasing volume , i will use volume down button to see the volume window on screen then will use touchscreen to turn the volume on.
Hey there 👋
Made an account just to say — Thank you. This bug has been following me for nearly a year now. No idea why it started, but honestly, this little mf annoyed me quite a lot, and as I can see, not only me 👀
Anyways, glad I haven't stopped searching for a solution 🤝

I got a xiaomi redmi note 8. And today I experienced the same thing and it started when I was playing league of legends: wild rift and it becomes a hindrance in my game as it blocks the buttons I use to play the game. If you want a visualization; the volume always appear in the screen, every second so it doesn't go away. I tried restarting the device but the options to "airplane mode";"silent mode";"restart";"shutdown" don't appear. So, I long press and the device shuts down. Then when I try to open it go to Fast Boot. I tried doing what Mustafa said and in addition tried to clean the earphone slot with cotton buds with 99% alcohol. After that my phone goes back to normal. (I already have pried open the back of my device to try to fix the buttons itself but don't know how to get into the buttons itself.) Hope this helps the others before they pry open their device.

iPhone Volume Buttons Not Working? Try These 7 Fixes
Here are all the steps you need to take if your iPhone volume buttons aren't working.
A broken volume button is often unexpected and can be annoying to deal with. After all, we don't realize how much we use it until it no longer works. Not being able to turn your volume down when an annoying video plays or your song is too loud can also be embarrassing.
If your iPhone buttons aren't working properly, you should fix them as soon as possible. Luckily, there are plenty of solutions, and you can do many of them yourself.
1. Make Sure Your iPhone's Volume Buttons Are Enabled
Some might not be aware of this, but there is a setting that turns your iPhone's volume buttons on and off. This setting is already enabled by default on all devices, but it's possible someone can turn it off without realizing it.
To check this, head to Settings > Sounds & Haptics and toggle on Change with Buttons . If this isn't enabled, this could be why your volume buttons aren't working. If it's already enabled, proceed to the next fix.
2. Remove Your iPhone From Its Case
iPhones are expensive, so it's likely that most of you use a case to protect them. In some instances, your case can interfere with your volume buttons. This is especially true with cases that have layers or have built-in screen protectors.
Simply remove your iPhone case and give your volume buttons another try. If they work now, you'll need to get a new case. After all, you probably want to keep your iPhone protected.
It's also possible that prolonged use of a case can cause your volume buttons to get dirty. If that's the case, proceed to the next step.
3. Clean Your iPhone's Volume Buttons Using Alcohol
We use our phones so much that dirt and grime can sometimes get under the buttons, especially when not using a case. So, press down on your buttons a few times to check if your buttons are stuck. You might need to clean them if they're stuck or don't seem to click down.
To clean your volume buttons, take a cotton swab and dip it in isopropyl alcohol. The best option for cleaning electronics is 99 percent isopropyl alcohol, as it dries quickly and doesn't contain much water. It also removes dirt and grime by breaking up oils.
Use the cotton swab to clean around your volume button the best you can. If you can push down on the buttons, doing so might help you clean it better. There's no need to overdo it with the alcohol, as it doesn't take much to work.
After cleaning, wait a few minutes for the alcohol to dry. If your volume buttons are working now, great! If they are only working a bit better, that's a sign that they are still dirty, and you should keep cleaning them. It's worth cleaning your entire iPhone if it's dirty .
4. Reset or Restore Your iPhone
Sometimes, firmware updates can change how the buttons on our phones work. This is especially true for older iPhone models. If you recently updated your iPhone and the volume buttons stopped working, try restarting your iPhone by turning it off and on again.
If that doesn't help, you might need to reset your device. This means backing up your iPhone and erasing all the content settings. A full reset might also work if your volume button stops working after an app download or a jailbreak attempt.
To do this, first, you'll need to back up your iPhone . Then, go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Erase All Content and Settings .
This will wipe your phone clean and essentially make it like new. Before restoring a backup, go into the device and test the volume buttons. If they work, restore your backup.
In some cases, restoring your backup might make them not work again. If that's the case, it might have been an app you tried to download, or your backup could be corrupted. Sadly, this means starting from scratch unless you have an older backup you can try restoring.
5. Update Your iPhone
Not updating your iPhone can also cause issues with your iPhone's volume buttons. Outdated iPhones might not work with the latest apps, and the volume controls might not work correctly as a result.
There's also a possibility that a previous Apple update you installed is buggy, and updating again could fix the problem. To be safe, try updating your iPhone to see if it resolves the issue.
You can update it by heading to Settings > General > Software Update . Here, you can see if a new iOS version is available. If you're using a beta version of iOS, it might be time to switch back to the stable public build and report this issue to Apple.
6. Control Your iPhone's Volume Without Using Volume Buttons.
If you use apps like Spotify, you can control the volume within the app without a physical button. If all else fails, there are still ways to control your volume without using the buttons. The easiest way is to use the Control Center.
You can open the Control Center and adjust your volume by swiping down from the top-right corner of your iPhone. If your iPhone has a Home button, you'll need to swipe up from the bottom of the screen instead.
If you have AirPods, you can say, "Hey Siri, turn up the volume." Other Bluetooth headphones typically have built-in volume controls, which you can use as well. This means that you won't have to keep going to your phone when you want to change the volume.
Control the Volume With AssistiveTouch
If you're looking for another way to control the volume, consider using AssistiveTouch. You can set the AssistiveTouch button to open a menu to control your volume on the screen or have it either turn up or down when tapped.
To use it, go to Settings > Accessibility > Touch > AssistiveTouch . Here, you can set your device to turn the volume down with one tap and turn it up with two taps.
7. Get Your Volume Buttons Repaired
If cleaning your buttons and resetting your iPhone doesn't fix the volume buttons, you most likely need to get the buttons repaired. This is especially true if you recently damaged your iPhone or exposed it to water.
If your iPhone is under warranty, make an Apple Store appointment at a Genius Bar , and your repair will most likely be free. Otherwise, you will need to pay for a repair out of pocket.
So, next time you upgrade your iPhone, consider learning more about the AppleCare+ extended warranty and see if it's worth it so you won't get caught with a costly repair again.
While repairing your iPhone's volume buttons out of pocket can be expensive, it's cheaper than buying a new phone. But if you don't want to pay this price, maybe it's time to upgrade your iPhone .
Will Apple Discontinue the Volume Button?
Considering Apple has discontinued the Home button, headphone jack, and Ring/Silent switch, it's logical to assume that one day the volume buttons might disappear too. For now, the volume buttons remain—even the iPhone 15 models have volume buttons.
While they don't break often, it's bothersome if they do. Luckily, the solutions mentioned above will fix your iPhone volume buttons in most cases, and you'll be able to change your volume again in no time.
Tips and Tricks on How to Unstick Your Volume Button
Is your iPhone volume button not working? This can be incredibly annoying for multiple reasons. Of course, you need the volume button to raise and lower the volume on your phone for music, videos, and calls. If you have one of the newer models, you also use the volume button on iPhone for screenshots. Having it stuck prevents you from using your phone for everything you usually do. Before you send your cell off to Apple iPhone repair, consider some of these tips and tricks. Sometimes the problem can be fixed all on your own.
Sometimes the cause of your iPhone volume button not working is just dirt. Our phones are filthy since we take them everywhere and rarely clean them. Try scraping-out dust and gunk around the volume control with a q-tip. You can also vacuum the iPhone volume button stuck or use compressed air to blow the dirt out. This is one of the most common reasons that the volume button stops working, so try cleaning your phone first.
As obvious as it might sound, sometimes the solution is just to press the button a bunch of times. Try clicking the top and then the bottom part of the volume button on iPhone as if you are turning the sound up and down. Doing this several times may wiggle the iPhone volume button stick back into place and fix your problem with no iPhone repair needed.
Take It Apart
If you feel like taking a risk, you can take your phone apart and fix the button from the inside. This is generally not recommended with iPhones since they do not come apart easily. It is also very simple to mess something else up while you have the inside of the phone exposed. There are many videos on YouTube on how to fix or even replace your volume button on iPhone if you want to be your own repair person.
Sometimes the problem you are facing isn’t a hardware issue at all, but a software issue. Your iPhone can have random glitches when it isn’t updated the whole way. At the same time, sometimes new updates have bugs if you download them right after they come out. If your phone is several iOS behind, consider updating it to fix your volume button.
You should also check your settings to make sure you didn’t somehow change the volume button to not do what you want it to. While you are in settings, you can set up alternatives for buttons if your iPhone volume button stick still refuses to work. There are many of these available under accessibility in the settings menu.
Water or Hardware Damage
Is your iPhone volume button not working after trying all of these tips and tricks? Your phone may have internal damage. Look around your volume button for deep scratches or cracks. These could be a sign of deeper hardware damage. If your phone has ever been exposed to water, that could also be causing the issue. This doesn’t just mean you dropped your iPhone in a puddle. Snow, humidity, and extreme temperatures can all affect how your phone works. If your volume button on iPhone seems to be broken completely, you will need to take it to get fixed or replaced.
